James "Jim" L. Risetter

August 19, 1947 ~ January 28, 2024 (age 76) 76 Years Old

James "Jim" Risetter Obituary

James “Jim” Leroy Risetter, the son of Elvin and Marie (Sexe) Risetter, was born on August 19, 1947, in Webster City, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Jewell, where he was a talented athlete, nicknamed “Cheese” and was allegedly known as creator of the “Heisman Pose”.  Jim graduated from South Hamilton High School in 1965.

      Jim was drafted into and served in the United States Air Force from1966 - 1970, working as a firefighter and on flight line patrol.

     On May 21, 1967, Jim married Pamela Ades (whom he met after he and his friends let off large amounts of fireworks near the tent Pam and her girlfriends were camping in one 4th of July weekend).

     Jim worked for the Webster City Fire Department, Jewell Oil CO., Nissen Company and Van Diest Supply. He also worked, in various capacities including owner at Dairy Queen.

     Jim will be remembered for his “Love Hard” personality – loving family, especially his grandchildren, and making time and memories with them a priority.  He also enjoyed sports, traveling to Chicago – to watch his beloved CUBS, practical jokes and scratch tickets.

     Jim passed away unexpectedly surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN, at the age of 76 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Sam and June Ades; brother-in-law, Kevin Ades; niece Jodi and nephew Chad Risetter. his beloved dogs Ellie and Franny and other extended family members.   

     Jim is survived by his wife, Pam Risetter of Webster City; children, Burke Risetter (Sarah) of Webster City, Heather Stroner (Erik) of Webster City and Ryan Risetter (Holly) of Waterloo; six grandchildren: Brandon Risetter (Paige), Megan Risetter (Shiloh), Brady Risetter, Addison Risetter, Ben Risetter and Rylan Stroner; five great grandchildren: Croix, Letti, Valli, Wrenley and Hendrix; brother, Wayne Risetter of Jewell; sister, Marelyn Wicks (Bob) of Jewell and many other family and friends.

      Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City with visitation from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church.  Please feel free to wear your Cubs gear or dress casual as we celebrate “Diamond Jim”.   

     Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
