Janice Fankhauser Obituary

     Janice Irene (Brown) Fankhauser, a beloved child of God, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend and Hairdresser, was called home on January 31st, 2024.  Jan passed away peacefully surrounded by family.  Jan has requested to be cremated with no funeral or services conducted.

     Jan was the 4th child of 5 children born to Wesley and Nellie Brown on June 27, 1949.  She grew up in Eagle Grove with her 3 brothers (Tom, Mick and Jim) and sister (Carol). Jan graduated from High School in 1967.

      Jan then went on to meet Jim Fankhauser in 1967, they were married in 1970, and had two sons, Jeff and Joe.  The family lived on the Peer Farm in Renwick for over 43 years.

      Jan put herself through cosmetology school while raising her 2 sons, Jeff and Joe.  After completing school, she purchased a shop on Main Street in Goldfield where she was a hairdresser for 20 years.

      Jan was very creative, she loved decorating her home for the holidays and hosting family Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas dinners. (Jan we will miss your chicken noodles and mashed potatoes).  Her family, friends, and church were always number one with her.

     Jan was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church of Eagle Grove, she enjoyed working with the ladies in the church kitchen, doing fund raisers and hosting meals in her home for the Baptist women’s group.

     Jan was preceded in death by her unborn child; parents, Wes and Nellie Brown; sister, Carol Duer; brother-in-law, Darrold Duer; brother, Tom Brown; brother-in-law, Paul Fankhauser; and Aunt and Uncle Irene and Norman Peer.

     Jan is survived by her loving Husband Jim; sons, Jeff (Eleanor) and Joe (Ann); grandchildren; Alex, Alycia, Noah, Derrick Rachu (Heather), Jeremy Rachu (Leah) and Brian Sorenson; brothers, Mick Brown (JoAnn) and Jim Brown (Kim Butler); sister-in-law, Linda Brown; brother-in-law, Larry (Beth) Fankhauser and sister-in-law, Mary Fankhauser. Jan is also survived by many great-grandchildren along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

     The Fankhauser family would like to thank the Belmond Rehabilitation Center and St Croix Hospice for all of their loving support and care of Jan as she transitioned.
