Carole Kay Hanus

     Carole Kay (Butz) Hanus, the daughter of Burdette B. and Beatrice R. (Thompson) Butz, was born on August 7, 1949, in Wright County, Iowa.   She was raised and educated in the area of her birth and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1967. 

     Carole was united in marriage with Michael D. Hanus Sr. on October 16, 1970, in Hamilton County, Iowa.  They made their home in Eagle Grove and enjoyed 49 years of marriage. 

     Carole was a loving mother of three children, Tracy, Kimberly and Michael and she also worked for Meredith Corp. in Clarion for 20 years, retiring in 2009.

     Carole enjoyed her poker games and many wins with her husband Mike, playing the slots and Bingo at the casino, attending concerts and gardening.  She always remembered people’s special occasions and always sent a card to them.

     Carole passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Unity Point Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa at the age of 69 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, G. Hal Banks and Vern Subject; in-laws, Donald and Marie Hanus; brother-in-law, Ronald Hanus and nephew, Ronnie Hanus.

     Survivors include her husband, Michael D. Hanus, Sr.; three children: Tracy Gill (David). Kimberly Hanus and Michael D. Hanus, Jr. all of Eagle Grove; nine grandchildren: Karly Gill, Ethan Gill, Rhianna Rykhus, Regina Endriss, Rylee Hanus, David (DJ) Hernandez, Jr., Jade Hanus Roosa, Cameron Hanus and Kinley Hanus; four great-grandchildren: Adilynn Rykhus-Loux, Azure Rykhus-Reed, Melenah McCutcheon and Morgann McCutcheon; sister, Janice Sloan of Kenosha, WI and brothers, Bruce Butz of Webster City and Fred (Kenneth) Butz.

     Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Foust Funeral Home.

     Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
