Genevieve Francoise (Ducastelle) Thomason

Genevieve Francoise Bertha Ducastelle Thomason, the daughter of George Eloi and Mathilde (Martens) Ducastelle, was born on October 20, 1926, in Reimes, France.  She was raised and educated in the area of her birth until the age of 22.  She worked for the Red Cross Ambulance for one year during the war.

      Genevieve was united in marriage with Dale Thomason on February 17, 1947, in Pouillon, France.  They continued to live there until Dale was honorably discharged in November of 1948, when the couple returned to Eagle Grove, where he worked for area farmers until 1952, then they operated their own 200acre farm for 8 years.  During this time, Dale and Genevieve raised a family of five.  Genevieve sold Avon for over 20 years.

     Dale and Genevieve were “snow birds” for 20 years, camping in Apache Junction, Arizona where they made many good friends and happy memories. 

     Genevieve enjoyed her children, grandchildren, flowers, gardening, sewing, quilting and decorating.

     Genevieve passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove at the age of 93 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Gaston Bloyer; husband, Dale; brother, John Bloyer; sister, Georgette and a son, Loren.

     Left to cherish her memory are her children, George (Sandra) Thomason of Eagle Grove, Ramona (Mark) Hansen of Goldfield, son, Ralph (Pat) Thomason of Eagle Grove and son, Michel (Candy) Thomason of Goldfield; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren and a sisters, Gisele Bloyer and Suzanne Boltin of France. 

     Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2019, at Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating.  Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the church.  Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

     Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
