Janice Anna (Peterson) Nickell

Janice Anna Nickell, the daughter of Clarence and Naomi (Shackelford) Peterson, was born on December 15, 1933, in Hardy, Iowa.  She was raised and educated in Goldfield, graduating with the class of 1951. 

     On May 27, 1951, Janice was united in marriage with Lewis Nickell at the Open Bible Church in Eagle Grove.  The couple lived on a farm east of Eagle Grove and then moved into town in 1954.

     Janice was a very busy homemaker and mom to 5 girls, she also worked as a Home Health Aide and for Cornell Deeny at D&B Motors.

     Janice enjoyed crocheting, sewing, decorating cakes, playing the piano and doing puzzles and crosswords.

      Janice was a longtime member, Sunday school and Bible school teacher at the Open Bible Church.  She  has been attending Park Church of Christ since 2003.She     

 Janice passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Villa Care in Fort Dodge at the age of 85 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Michael David, daughter, Lynnette Nickell and brother, Richard Peterson.

     Survivors include her husband, Lewis Nickell of Eagle Grove;  daughters: Becky and Allen Porter of Mesquite, NV, Vicky and Stephen Adams of Goldfield, Elaine and Gene Van Grevenhof of Fort Dodge and Cheryl and Richard Jacobsen of Muscatine; five grandchildren: Jessica Burmeister Chris Adams, Shane Adams, Nicole Jacobsen and Tricia Jacobsen; nine great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Follmann and Leonard of Fairfield Bay, AR and sister-in-law, Judith Peterson of Eagle Grove.

   Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with Pastor Robert Dishman officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.  Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

   Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
