Larry Moser Obituary

    Larry Joe Moser, the son of Carl B. and Sara J. (Beaver) Moser, was born on June 18, 1935, in rural Vincent, Iowa.  He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1953, where he was Class President.  Larry worked for Si Schrage at John Deer during high school and until he started farming in 1955.

     Larry was united in marriage to Mary Romer in 1956, they farmed on the south edge of Eagle Grove and had four children, Jim, Diane, Debbie and Barbara.  She preceded him in death in 1964.  In 1969, Larry married Faye (Yoder) Hanus who had three children, Jule, Mary and Eddie.  They continued to farm until retiring in 1998.  Faye preceded him in death on January 28, 2016.

     Larry was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Eagle Grove. He served on many boards over the years, such as the Wright County Fair Board for 18 years, 20 years on the Brenton Bank Board, Eagle Grove Chamber Board, F.M.H.A. Board, Farmers & Gold Eagle Board, Country Club Board and on the Planning & Zoning Board.  Larry enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards and cribbage.  He also enjoyed having daily coffee at Ampride and Thursday Night outings.

     Larry passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at the age of 84 years.  He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Debbie Moser in infancy and Barbara Jo Ostercamp; grandson, Matthew Reiland, great-grandsons, Mark and Matthew Carpenter; brother, Dean Moser; sister, Doris Hultgren and her husband, Clifford and brother-in-law, Larry Strain.

     Survivors include his daughter, Diane Schweitzer of Loomis, NE;  step-children, Jule Hanus of Grimes, Mary (Ron) Reiland of Savanna, IL and Eddie (Amy) Hanus of Blairsburg; 13 grandchildren: Diana Hanus Carpenter, David Hanus, Dwight Hanus, Danny Hanus, John Reiland, Ronda Reiland Cousins, Jason Reiland, Chris Hanus, Jennifer Hanus Terwilliger, Scott Ostercamp, Steven Ostercamp, Rustin Bobzien and Cheyenne Chamberlin; 15 great grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; sister, Charlene Strain of Mason City; son-in-law, Dick Ostercamp (Kristy) of Eagle Grove; sister-in-law, Pat Moser of Eagle Grove and many nieces, nephews and friends.

    Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father Jerry Blake celebrating.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 4:30 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.   Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Eagle Grove.
