Arlis L. (Ernst) Sorensen

Arlis Lorraine Sorensen, the daughter of Roy and Fern (Fjetland) Ernst, was born on November 23, 1940, at the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa.   She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1959 and Iowa Lutheran Nursing School in Des Moines as a RN.

    Arlis was united in marriage to Kent C. Sorensen on November 4, 1962 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  Kent preceded her in death on December 27, 1979.

    Arlis worked at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home as an RN for several years.

    Arlis passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Belmond, at the age of 79 years.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters-in-law,Karen Evans and Vicki Reyna and brothers-in-law, Herb Bormann, Dunnie Sorensen, Bud Sorensen and Richard Reyna. 

    Arlis is survived by her sons, Thomas Sorensen (Kathleen) of Fairbanks, AK, John Sorensen of Goldfield and Paul Sorensen of Boone; grandson, Tayler Callahan of Cedar Rapids; sister, Marlene Bormann of Humboldt; brother, Gene Ernst (Lorraine) of Victoria, MN; sisters-in-law, Dee Halverson (Carl), Holly Upchurch, Joy Sorensen and Jill Sorensen and several nieces and nephews.

     Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church.  

     Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
