Bernice Marie Pyle, the daughter of Henry and Henrietta (Emmendoerffer) Hisler, was born on November 27, 1926, in Clarion, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Dows, graduating from Dows High School with the” Class of 1944”.
On December 24, 1944, Bernice was united in marriage to George Pyle in Eagle Grove. The couple farmed near Holmes for a few years before moving to a farm northeast of Eagle Grove where they lived for 38 years until moving to town. They enjoyed traveling, fishing trips to Canada, spending time at their lake home in Clear Lake and a few winters in Texas. George preceded her in death on February 26, 1995.
Bernice enjoyed being social, having company and playing cards. She participated in a bowling league and was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Bernice is remembered by her family as a perfectionist and they loved her “perfect kringla, margaritas and potato salad”.
Bernice passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Fort Dodge Health and Rehab in Fort Dodge, Iowa, at the age 96 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronald Pyle; sister, Rosie Smith and a brother, Ernest Hisler.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Pyle of Fort Dodge; grandchildren: Brad Hepp (Corki), Brenda Feeley (Brandon), Christie Navara (Eric), Daron Pyle (Crystal) and Ronda Villamagna (Michael) and 11 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove on Friday, March 10, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. with funeral services at 2:30 p.m.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
