Carl Stanley Burras, the son of Stanley M. and Laura M. (Voight) Burras, was born May 31, 1952, in Webster City, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, graduating with the “Class of 1970”.
Carl was employed by Umthun Trucking for 30 years where he received a 2 Million Mile Safety Award for outstanding performance as a professional driver, hauled grain for Jim Kaufman for 3 years and drove for North Central Cooperative in Clarion for 10 years.
Carl loved cars and attending the Barrett-Jackson car auctions and owned a corvette and several camaro’s throughout his life. He was a lifelong San Francisco 49ers fan and had a huge heart for animals, especially his cats, feeding several at his back door. Carl was a confirmed member of Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove and had a strong belief in God.
Carl passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge at the age of 67 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Gene Thompson.
Survivors include his son, Corey Burras and wife, Anne Marie of Detroit, MI; three grandchildren, William, Katherine and Laura; two sisters, Judy Thompson of Eagle Grove and Sandra Thomason and husband, George of Eagle Grove and several nieces, nephews and friends.
