Dan Michael Stephens

Dan Michael Stephens, the son of Don M. and Ilys Ione (Griffith) Stephens, was born on January 24, 1940, in Goldfield, Iowa.  He was raised and educated in Goldfield, graduating from Goldfield High School in 1958.  Dan served in the United States Army from September 25, 1963 until his honorable discharge on September 24, 1965.

      On March 27, 1966, Dan was united in marriage with Eleanor Rockwood at the Methodist Church in LuVerne.  They lived in Goldfield, Eagle Grove, Mason City, Granger and settled in Slater where they made their home and raised two daughters.   Dan worked for Firestone in Des Moines and after they both had retired in 1999, they moved back to Goldfield.

     Dan was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and many years ago he sang in the choir.

     Dan enjoyed antique cars and visiting with everyone – he was a very charismatic man.

     Dan passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019, at the age of 79 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eleanor and brothers, Dean, Dale and Don Ray.

     Survivors include his daughters, Martha Huddleston and husband Chad of Webster City and Carmen Jones and husband Travis of Goldfield; grandchildren, Zachary and Carly Jones; brother, Dennis Stephens (Barb) of Eagle Grove; sisters, Neola (Nicky) Kvale (Jim) of Goldfield and Nancy Graf (Ron) of Oakdale, MN; sister-in-law, Karren Stephens of Clear Lake and numerous nieces and nephews.

    Visitation is Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 4:00 to67:00 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield
