Darlene June (King) (Reimers) Lauer

Darlene June (King), the daughter of Glenn M. and Ruby E. (Surls) King, was born on June 30, 1926, in Coon Rapids, Iowa.   

     On March 27, 1948, Darlene was united in marriage with Arthur M. Reimers in Fort Dodge, Iowa.  They made their home in Duncombe, Webster City and moved to Eagle Grove in 1963.  Arthur preceded her in death on March 17, 1977.

     Darlene married Rollin Lauer on September 1, 1979 in Eagle Grove.  He preceded her in death on April 9, 1996.

     Darlene was a member of the United Methodist Church.

     Darlene enjoyed reading, coloring, bird watching, crocheting, traveling and sharing stories.  She loved her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

     Darlene passed away with her daughters by her side on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, at the age of 95 years.  The family is very grateful for the kind and compassionate care Darlene and her family received from the Rotary and Unity Point  Hospice staff.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim; sisters, Jodi, Glenna, Dorothy and Betty; son, Michael Reimers; daughter, Kaylene Hudspeth and grandson, Justin Lesher. 

     Survivors include her daughters, Cynthia Huffaker of Sun City, AZ, Robin Marvin (Terry) of Corpus Christi, TX and Jennifer Lesher (Jeff) of Eagle Grove; 14 grandchildren: Michael, Elizabeth, Carter, Kerry, Kathy, Scott, Mindy, Amy, Jason, Eric, Matthew, Adam, Nate and Andrew and 25 great-grandchildren.

     Visitation will be Wednesday, December 8, 2021 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.   Burial will be at a later date in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City.

     Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
