Dennis R. Stoll

Dennis Ralph Stoll, the son of Ralph and Ollie (Johnson) Stoll was born on August 1, 1935. Dennis grew up  in LuVerne, IA.  On February 9, 1958 he was united in marriage with Edna Schnell at Wishard Chapel in Mount Ayr, Iowa. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove where he worked for Jacobsen Construction. After a number of years, he opened his own construction/repair business: Stoll Plumbing, Heating and Wiring. He and Edna also owned and managed the Montgomery Ward Catalog store in Eagle Grove.  He worked for Casey’s as a Regional Tech for several years before going to work at Fort Dodge Laboratories.  Once he finally retired, he helped his friends with seasonal farming around Eagle Grove. 

Dennis was a past Master at the Bower Masonic Lodge in Eagle Grove.  He also served as President for the Oakridge Golf Course in Goldfield, President for the Eagle Grove Country Club, and President for the Eagle Grove Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed playing and watching golf, gardening, fishing, hunting and drinking coffee with his friends in town on a daily basis. He also enjoyed collecting Maxfield Parrish prints and carnival glass antiques. 

Surrounded by his family, Dennis passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at the Rotary Ann Nursing home.  He was 85 years old. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Edna; infant son, Darwin; and his parents. 

Dennis is survived by his sons Darrel (Cindy) Stoll of Cedar Rapids, Darin (Judy) Stoll of Ames; daughter DeEtta (Jack) Rosa of Grimes; nine grandchildren: Brandon, Andrea, Troy, Ashley, Jessica, Tyler, Alexandra, Addyson, and  Kade  and 15 great-grandchildren.
