Donald Howard Jorgensen

Donald Howard Jorgensen, one of five sons of Howard and Lorraine (Brown) Jorgensen, was born on August 7, 1940, in Troy Township, Wright County, Iowa.  He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Eagle Grove High School “Class of 1958”.

       Don entered the United States Air Force on April 13, 1959 and was Honorably discharged on April 12, 1963.  He remained in California for a few years before returning to Eagle Grove and using his mechanic skills and working with his brothers, owning and operating the Jorgensen Phillips 66 Station.  Don then found his way into his real passion ~ farming, which he actively continued until the last couple of years. 

       Don married Connie Schnittjer in 1965 in Delhi, Iowa and they had four children: Curt, Ted, Stacey, and Laurie.  The couple divorced in 1982.

       Don’ s life revolved around farming, but he enjoyed his family & friends most!  He also liked music ~ especially listening to the “Oldies Show” on KWMT every Saturday morning and watching an occasional car race.

       Don passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, with family at his side, at the age of 81 years, from complications of COPD and COVID.  He was preceded in death by his son, Ted; parents and brothers: Duane (Marlene), Paul, Dale, and Rod (Jean) Jorgensen.

       Don is survived by his son, Curt Jorgensen (Kelly) of Eagle Grove; daughters, Stacey Mussman (Jeff) of Clarion and Laurie Uitermarkt (Matt) of Indianola; ten grandchildren: Austin, Emily, Haley, Josh, Tiffany, Alisha (Loren), Tioni (Ethan), Ashley (Joey), Brittany (Blake) and Austin (Chelsie); 17 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Sill and Vicki Jorgensen of Eagle Grove; grand dogs and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

       A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2022, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Rails “The Depot” in Eagle Grove.
