Doug Resh Obituary

Douglas Wendel Resh, the son of David and Joyce (Sheridan) Resh, was born on April 3, 1971 in Fort Dodge, Iowa.  He grew up in Eagle Grove, where he enjoyed playing high school football and wrestling and graduated in the “Class of 1989”.

After a few years of doing different jobs, he decided to move to Greeley, Colorado, where he attended the University of Northern Colorado.  In 2002, Doug graduated with his B.S. Degree in Recreation and Human Rehab.  After college, Doug devoted his time to his fitness career.  He loved being a personal fitness trainer at the conditioning spa and enjoyed helping people get healthy.  It was no surprise to find him at the gym from morning to night – his co-workers were truly family to him.  He met many people in his line of work and he was honored to call them all his friend.   After many years in Colorado, he moved to Michigan, where he continued to be a personal trainer and then shortly returned to Iowa.

Doug had many achievements during his life, including writing a health and fitness book with his friend Michael Opitz, competing in many body building competitions and even modeling in New York for a fitness magazine.

Doug loved to have fun- whether it be hiking, watching jeopardy, riding his motorcycle, having beers with friends or going on and on about how the Buffalo Bills are going to win the Super Bowl!!!

Doug spent the remainder of his years with the people he loved and spreading the word and his love of God.  His road in life was spent with many ups and downs – but the best thing he knew how to do was love.  Doug touched many people with his contagious smile and goofy personality.

Doug passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 19, 2020, at his home in Clarion at the age of 48 years.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Stacey Russell; nephews, Devin Resh, Malachi Russell and Derrek Downing and grandparents: Robert Sheridan, Ellen Sheridan, Emmet Resh and Roxana Houge.

Survivors include his son, Zach Berry (Sarah Christenson); daughter, McKayla Resh (Kristopher Anderson); spouse, Pam Kruger; mother, Joyce Resh; father, David Resh, Sr.; step-children: Taylor Kruger, McKenna Kruger and Kaitlyn Kruger; six grandchildren: Aiydyn Schultz, Jonah Berry, Trysten Eide, Nashua Berry, Isabella Berry and Oliver Berry; siblings: Dave Resh, Jr. (Lori Amsbaugh), Brenda Konecne and husband Mike, Dan Resh and wife Shannon, Dennis Resh and wife Angie and Shane Hilbert and several niece,  nephews and friends.

Memorial services will be planned at a later date – when it is safe for us all to gather.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
