Elwood “Dutch” Charles Hiveley, the son of Lloyd and Elizabeth (Bennett) Hiveley, was born on May 22, 1933, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Lehigh.
On November 26, 1966, Dutch was united in marriage with Carol Amy Weflen. The couple had one daughter, Elizabeth.
While he did not attend traditional services, Dutch was a person of quiet faith and will be remembered for his kind spirit. He worked various construction jobs and worked
scrapping metal. Dutch enjoyed working outside, woodworking and watching Westerns.
Dutch and Carol spent much of their time together and enjoyed each other’s company. The couple was married for nearly 60 years and showed great love for each other. The couple passed away within 24 hours of each other showing their deep and lasting love.
Dutch passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Southfield Wellness in Webster City, Iowa at the age of 92 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Eugene Hiveley and Maynard Hiveley; and sister, Geraldine Kent.
Survivors include his daughter, Beth (Aaron) Burres of Roland; grandchildren: Caden and Devyn Burres; brother Wayne Hiveley of Lehigh and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
