James "Jim" A. Moffitt

     James Albert Moffitt was born on March 29, 1930 in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the son of Walter and Harriet (Barrett) Moffitt.  He graduated from Eagle Grove High School, “Class of 1948”.   Jim served 7 years in the Army National Guard of Iowa with the 34th  MP CO.

     In 1953, Jim was united in marriage to Mary Nicol in Eagle Grove and to this union four children were born: Brian, Alan, Brenda and Barbara. 

     Jim lived in Eagle Grove most of his life and worked for Ellsworth Freight Lines for 31 ½ years.  In 1982, after their children were raised, Jim and Mary left Eagle Grove and lived in Oklahoma, Texas, South Dakota and Missouri before returning to Eagle Grove in 1998.

      Jim was very proud of his family, loved each one of them and will be missed by all of them.

       Jim passed away on April 19, 2020, at Rotary Senior Living Care Facility in Eagle Grove, at the age of 90 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Hedi Moffitt; brother-in-law, Charles Parsons and four brothers and sisters-in-law: Roy and Kity Moffitt, Walter “Duke” and Betty Moffitt, Edward “Ed” and Ann Moffitt and Ralph “Ottie” and Jeannette Moffitt.

       Jim is survived by his wife, Mary; children: Brian Moffitt of Weatherford, TX, Alan Moffitt (Emily) of Hot Springs, SD, Brenda Call (John) of Luverne, MN and Barbara Stanek (Tom) of Ottumwa; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Parsons of Overland Park, KS; nephew, Michael Moffitt (Reba) and their families; niece, Christy Newcomb (Bob) and their families and many other nieces, nephews and lots of fantastic friends.

     Graveside services will be Tuesday, June 15, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery.

     Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
