Judith Diane (Freeman) Flatebo was born on September 19, 1938, in Goldfield, Iowa, the daughter of Claire and Ruby (Tollefson) Freeman. She graduated from Goldfield High School, “Class of 1957”. She was a member of the Goldfield High School girls basketball team who won the first state championship at Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium in 1955. After graduation Judy went to work for Bell Telephone in Clarion.
In June of 1958, Judy was united in marriage to Carrol Flatebo at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove and to this union three children were born: Tim, Jeff and Jodi.
Judy and Carrol made their home in Eagle Grove and she worked for Dodger Manufacturing and Umthun Trucking.
Judy enjoyed watching girl’s college basketball and softball, golfing, bowling, puzzles and spending time with family and friends.
Judy passed away on April 26, 2020, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, at the age of 81 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Tim Flatebo.
Judy is survived by her husband, Carrol Flatebo; son, Jeff Flatebo of Grand Forks, ND; daughter, Jodi Flatebo of Kamrar; six grandchildren: Jennifer Flatebo, Krystal Clarke (Alex), Kelly Flatebo, Brandon Flatebo, Jenna Crary (Adam) and Dustin Flatebo (Ashley); six great-grandchildren; sister, Jill “Sadie” Sorensen of Goldfield and Todd and Kelly and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Private family graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorial services will be planned at a later date – when gathering restrictions lessen.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
