LaDonna Jane Guggisberg

LaDonna Jane Guggisberg, the daughter of Frank and Lavina (Blanchard) Mittlieder, was born on February 7, 1941, in Irvington, Iowa.  She was raised and educated in Algona.

     On November 19,1960, LaDonna was united in marriage to Jimmie Guggisberg at Algona.  They lived in Woolstock, Vincent and Eagle Grove. 

     LaDonna worked for the Eagle Grove Group Home for 23 years, retiring in 2013.  She was a member of the Woolstock United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school superintendent.

     LaDonna was also a member of “Chit Chat Club” and enjoyed reading, gardening, baking, shopping and loved to spend time with her grandchildren.  Family was especially important to LaDonna as she loved her “sister vacations” which encouraged her children to start “cousin camping”. 

     LaDonna died Monday, December 21, 2020, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove at the age of 79 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmie in 1984; infant son, Michael Ray in 1961; two brothers, Dean and Randy Mittlieder; granddaughter, MaRissa and a son-in-law, Arley McPherson. 

     Survivors include her daughters, Shelly (Mark) Reed of Belmond, Shannon McPherson of Eagle Grove and Shawn Guggisberg of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Tad Guggisberg, Lance McPherson, Lacy (Josh Steig) Reed, TaRissa (Zach Steig) Reed, Tara (Justin) Locke, Amber (Joel Wolfe) McPherson and Brazin (Sarah Heaton) Guggisberg; 20 great grandchildren; sister, Nova (Jim) Reefer of Algona; brother, Dale (Sharon) Mittlieder of Wesley and several other relatives and friends. 

     Funeral services will be held Monday, January 4, 2021, at 11:00a.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with Pastor Alaire Willits officiating.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Newark Township Cemetery near Vincent. 

     Memorials may be left to the family’s discretion and mailed to 1525 4th Ave. So., Fort Dodge, Iowa 50501
