Marlena C. Midland

Marlena Clair Midland was born on April 10, 1938 in Eagle Grove, Iowa to Hiram and Mildred (Andersen) Midland. She was raised and educated in Eagle Grove and then received her bachelor’s degree in teaching.  She taught elementary school in Humboldt for many years.

    Marlena was a very active life-long member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove and the National Education Association.

     Marlena passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, at the age of 82 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

     She is survived by her sister, Roberta Midland of Eagle Grove and cousins: Carolyn Helmke Kraft of Bixby, OK, Christy Purkapile Horn of Seattle, WA, Ron Purkapile of Seattle, WA, Suzi Purkapile Harrison of Seattle, WA, Kathleen Helmke Grosvenor (Dwight) of Lakeside, AZ and Vicky Helmke Marty (Norm) of Ames, IA. 

      Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, 11:00 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

      Memorials may be directed to the family.
