Marsha Irene (Carter) Kelling, age 76, of Eagle Grove, Iowa left this world to join her heavenly father Saturday, March 12, 2022. She was born on July 8, 1945, in Clarion, Iowa to E.D. and Leota (Boyington) Carter. She is survived by her three daughters: Traci Lynn LaBoy, Tiffany Lee Mosher (Dan) and Terri June Torkelson; six grandchildren: Ana, Tony, Melissa, Mackenzie, Maci, and Michael; one great grandson, Leon; and brother, Mark Carter (Diane). She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; and her parents, E.D. And Leota.
Marsha graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1964. Shortly after graduating, she started working at the draft board in Clarion. It was there that she met the love of her life, Joseph, who was serving in the army at the time. Their inseparable bond began when she completed his discharge papers to let him out of the service.
On December 18, 1970, Marsha married Joe Kelling at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove, Iowa. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove and continued to be faithful members at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
As a loving mother, she had the opportunity to spend time working in the home raising her three girls. During their childhood, Marsha developed a long-standing involvement at Sacred Heart Church. She taught catechism classes, was an active member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and she was heavily involved with the prayer circle. Later in life, Marsha worked at Rotary Ann, a senior living facility, as the activities assistant. There she was able to brighten the residents' days with a variety of crafts and activities.
Her love of crafts was a lifelong interest she loved sharing with others. She enjoyed cross-stitching, stamping, and making homemade greeting cards. Her grandchildren fondly remember receiving handmade Christmas ornaments every year. Marsha was an avid reader and never left the house without a book. She also enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola and Mickey Mouse memorabilia.
Marsha will be missed by her family and friends, but they are comforted in knowing she is now reunited in heaven with her husband and parents.
Her family would like to thank Eastern Star Masonic Home and Suncrest Hospice for their excellent care of Marsha during the last months of her life.
Mass Of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father Jerry Blake, Celebrating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time in the Parrish Hall.
Memorials will be donated in Marsha’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis TN 38105 donors@stjude.org
