We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Foust Funeral Home
Melvin (Melvie) Earl Schnell, the son of Truman and Evelyn (Purkapile) Schnell, was born on March 17, 1930, in Webster City, Iowa.
On January 4, 1974, Melvin was united in marriage to Carla Willard in Elk Point, SD.
Melvin worked for many years as a Paint Foreman at Electrolux (Frigidaire) in Webster City before retiring in 1990. He would then drive for the CNW Railroad, and spent many years driving the Eagle Grove taxi.
In his early years you could find Mel taking fishing trips to Canada (always caught the big one), on the road to many bowling events around the country (he was an exceptional bowler), on the golf course, and then after retirement you could find him and Carla at casinos all over Iowa.. he really enjoyed the slot machines, but most of all he loved spending time with his kids and grandchildren. he was definitely a proud grandpa, and more recently a great grandpa!
