Phyllis June (Hamer) Bauman, the daughter of Morris Hamer and Lea (Loux) Hamer was born June 6, 1932 on a farm near Eagle Grove.
Phyllis was united in marriage to Arvid Bauman on July 1, 1950 at the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove. Together they had four children, Greg, Jeffrey, Annette and Neal. The family made their home in and around Eagle Grove except for a short time in Decorah.
Phyllis worked Cal’s Super Value, Brenton Bank and was a long-time employee for Christ Furniture, working there for 38 years.
Phyllis was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove and volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program. She enjoyed spending time shopping and playing cards. Phyllis was a proud supporter of Eagle Grove sports, enjoyed watching college basketball and loved following the Minnesota Twins.
Phyllis passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the Iowa Specialty Hospital, at the age of 90 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Lea Hamer; husban, Arvid Bauman; son, Jeffrey Bauman; grandsons, Andrew Barrett and John Bauman; great grandson, Gabe Creese and brothers and sisters: Howard Hamer, Marvin Hamer, Margaret Murphy, Doris Kubly, and Norma Johnson.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Gregory Bauman (Mary) of Cheraw, SC, Annette Barrett (Brad) of Ames and Neal Bauman of Spring, TX; daughter-in-law, Mary-Ann Koch of Mankato, MN; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove on Monday, May 15, 2023 from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
