Phyllis Eileen (Fisher) Spangler

     Phyllis Eileen (Fisher) Spangler of Eagle Grove passed away on May 10, 2022, at Rotary Senior Living at the age of 103.  Phyllis was born on August 4, 1918, to Norman and Mabel (Wagner) Fisher on a farm in Wright County, Iowa.  After graduating from Eagle Grove High School, she attended one year of Junior College before accepting a teaching job in Troy Township, teaching for two years.

     On May 28, 1939, Phyllis was united in marriage with James H. Spangler, at the East-Side Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove.  The couple farmed south of town and raised four children, until their retirement in 1985.  James preceded her in death on May 11, 1993.

     Phyllis enjoyed many things in life, including family, traveling, collecting pitchers and teacups.  She always tried to be kind, thoughtful and to smile!    Phyllis believed in prayer ~ she hoped people would pray because prayers go a long way.

         Phyllis is survived by her sons, Dean Spangler (Jeanne) Durham, NC and Loren Spangler of Chandler, AZ; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 11 great great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by parents; daughter, Joanne Brisbin (son-in-law, Robert Brisbin); son, Brian Spangler; grandson, Ric Spangler and great-grandson, Derrick Tasler.
