Rebecca Jane (Anderson) Kotchka

      Rebecca Jane Anderson, the daughter of Leonard and Hope Anderson, was born July 12, 1939 in rural Goldfield, Iowa.  Her family moved to Eagle Grove when she was two years old.  She received her education in the Eagle Grove Schools, graduating with the “Class of 1957”.

      Becky enlisted in the United Stated Air Force on August 5, 1957 and received her basic training at Lackland air Force Bace, Texas.  She attendee weather school at Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois after which she was assigned to the 19th Weather Squadron at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Bace, Missouri. She reached rank of Ariman Second Class.

      On October 31, 1959 she was married to Ariman Second Class W. Gary Kotchka of Monaca, PA. She received an honorable discharge from the Air Force on December 18, 1959. She has made her home in Eagle Grove since 1962.  She was divorced in July of 1964.

      Becky was employed as a telephone operator by Northwestern Bell for 15 years, working first in Eagle Grove then in Webster City telephone offices.  She retired in 1977.  She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and later New Hope Lutheran Church.

      Becky passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, at the age of 84 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister: Marvetta Gerard; infant brother: Darrell, and great granddaughter, Hope.

     Survivors include her daughters: Pamela Umthun of Ames and Angela (Mrs. Michael Sams) of Eldora; three sisters: Darlene Campbel of South Sioux City, NE, Joanne (Mrs. Clayton Will) of Iowa, and Lucinda (Mrs. John Asche) of Eagle Grove; three grandsons, Matthew, Andrew and Benjamin Umthun; four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

     A memorial service will be held at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove.   

     Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
