Regina Madison Obituary

Regina Mae Madison, the daughter of James and Helen (Loftus) Gilligan, was born August 1, 1936, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the oldest of seven children.  She graduated from Vernon High School and attended junior college in Eagle Grove.

On September 12, 1955, Regina was united in marriage to Fred W. Madison in Livermore, Iowa.  To this union five daughters were born.  They lived in the Mason City area for several years before moving to Eagle Grove in 1966.

Regina worked for Brenton Bank, Gambrill’s and served as the Deputy City Clerk for the City of Eagle Grove for over 20 years, retiring in 2000.

Regina was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove.  Her compassionate heart was evident through the countless children she cared for in her daycare business, the neighborhood families who gathered around the kitchen table and the many people she welcomed into her home.

Regina passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021, surrounded by her family at her home in Eagle Grove at the age of 84 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Pat and a sister, Kathy.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Fred Madison of Eagle Grove; daughters, Janelle (James) Ekeler of Lincoln, NE, Michelle (Lewis) Pergande of Jewell, Renee Madison of Lincoln, NE, Kerrie (Rick) Woodley of Laurens and Stephanie Sisson of Humboldt; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Dennis) Armstrong and Teresa (James) Baer; brothers, Mike (Ann) Gilligan and Paul (Janice) Gilligan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
