Richard "Dick" H. Pedersen

    Richard Harvey Pedersen was born on May 19, 1934, in Eagle Grove, Iowa to Christian Peter and Frances (Pauling) Pedersen.  He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1952.  Dick married Rosemary Pressler in San Fernando, CA, where they made their home and had two sons, Steven and Darrell.  The couple later divorced.

      Dick was united in marriage to Janet Ann Royal in 1961 in Las Vegas, NV and they added three more children to his family, Pam, Chris and Donya. Janet preceded him in death on November 11, 2014.

     Dick lived and raised his family in and around Eagle Grove for the past 58 years.  He worked for D & B Motors as a mechanic, on the Emerson Farm and drove truck for Eagle Mills for Ron Hemmen, Umthun Trucking and Crouse Cartage Company.  It was during this time that he was driving trucks that he was given the handle of “Sneeky Pete”.  After his retirement from the Crouse Cartage Company, he helped Gary Fisher with his farming operation and then became a professional coffee drinker and world problem solver!!  Dick raced stock cars in California and Iowa in the 50’s and 60’s.  He was also an avid race fan, attending NASCAR as well as local stock car racing events for many years.  

    Dick was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove and gifted the church with many years of quality lawn care.  He was also a member of the International and Iowa Edsel Clubs.  

    Dick passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019, at Bickford Cottages in Fort Dodge at the age of 85 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter, Grace Everly Pedersen and brother, Norman Pedersen on October 6, 2019 in California.
 

    Dick is survived by his children: Steve (Arlene) Pedersen of Manson, Darrell (Shelby) Pedersen of Eagle Grove, Pam (John) Baretich of Colorado Springs, CO, Chris (Tammy) Pedersen of Badger and Donya (Joe) Gerard of Williams, CA; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, with 2 more on the way.

    Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 18, 2019, 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Steve Swanholm officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove – New Location. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. foustfh.com
