Roberta Ann Midland

Roberta Ann Midland was born on April 18, 1934, in Eagle Grove, Iowa to Hiram and Mildred (Andersen) Midland. She was raised and educated in Eagle Grove and then received her bachelor’s degree in teaching from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI).  She taught elementary school in Renwick (Boone Valley), Alden and Humboldt for many years.

    Roberta was a very active life-long member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove and the National Education Association.

     Roberta passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, at the age of 88   years.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marlena.

     She is survived by her cousins: Carolyn Helmke Kraft of Bixby, OK, Christy Purkapile Horn of Seattle, WA, Ron Purkapile of Seattle, WA, Suzi Purkapile Harrison of Seattle, WA, Kathleen Helmke Grosvenor (Dwight) of Lakeside, AZ and Vicky Helmke Marty (Norm) of Ames, IA. 

      Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. 

      Memorials may be left to Evangelical Lutheran Church.
