Sharon JoAnn (Sweeney) Voss

Sharon JoAnn Sweeney Voss, 83, of Eagle Grove, died Saturday, February 19, 2022, of complications from lung cancer.  She was born on March 5, 1938, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the last surviving sibling among thirteen children born to Mary Cordelia Piper Sweeney and Leo Sweeney of Fort Dodge, all of whom preceded her in death.

Sharon met her future husband, Richard (Dick) Voss, at the Larimar Ballroom in Fort Dodge, and they were united in marriage on April 27, 1956.  They spent most of their lives together in Eagle Grove, or when they wintered in South Texas.  Dick Voss died in May, 2017, in the 61st year of their marriage.

Sharon loved nothing more than to be in a room surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and always looked forward to the next family gathering when they would re-convene in Eagle Grove to visit Grandma, play cards, and eat good food.  She also loved her time with friends over coffee, both in Iowa and Texas.

She is survived by her three daughters: Cindy Voss Humphreys (Brooks) of Omaha, NE, Sandi Voss Hanson of East Lansing, MI, and Valerie Voss Hanson (Mike) of Eagle Grove; seven grandchildren: Connor Humphreys (Nicole) and Kate Humphreys (Jessie McKelvey); Luke Hanson (Emily) and Jaclynn Hanson (Lance Testroet); Jessica Hanson Brogan (Patrick), Matt Hanson (Lauren), and Danielle Hanson; eleven great-grandchildren: Nile, Henry, and Evelyn Hanson; Alina, Atlas, and, Ronan Hanson; Braxton and Easton Brogan; Collynns and Cohen Testroet and Brooks Kelton Humphreys.
