Tonya Collins Obituary
Tonya P. Collins, the daughter of Buzz and JoAnn (Petersen) Stansberry, was born May 26th, 1979, in Hampton, Iowa. She graduated from Clarion High School with the “Class of 1997”. Tonya received her Associates Degree from Iowa Central Community College, her Bachelors Degree from the University of Phoenix, a Masters Degree from Capella University and was working towards a Counselor Education and Supervision Doctorate from Capella University.
On April 24th 2003, Tonya was united in marriage to Chris Collins in Humboldt. They lived in Thor with their fur babies: Kilo, Nikki, Tessa and Brady.
Tonya worked as a bank teller for Wells Fargo in Eagle Grove, was a Paraeducator in Humboldt, and a mental health counselor for both Berryhill Center in Fort Dodge and Achieve Mental Health in Iowa Falls.
Tonya attended First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove, volunteered for Relay for Life and the American Cancer Association, loved listening to music and doing her nails and was a “shopaholic”. She was a social butterfly and had visited all but 11 states.
Tonya passed away Friday, December 17th, 2021, from injuries received in a car accident near Eagle Grove at the age of 42 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and her fur babies, Kilo, Nikki and Tessa.
Survivors include her husband, Chris Collins of Thor; step-son, Chris Wentworth and step-daughter, Taylor Gardner; grandson, Christopher Wentworth; sisters: Lori Mentzer and her daughter, Hailey Mentzer of Hawaii, Chris Stansberry and her sons, Tyler and Tristan Stansberry of Fort Dodge and Samantha Stansberry and her daughter, Galaxy Banse of Clarion; her fur baby rescue dog, Brady and several other aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 23rd, 2021, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
