Violet Bernice (Lockett) Pohlman

      Violet "Vi" Bernice Pohlman, the daughter of Albert and Bernice Lockett, was born in Gaza, Iowa on July 6, 1941. She was raised and educated in Rowan, Iowa. 

      On August 18th, 1968, she was united in marriage to Gary Lee Pohlman in Clarion, Iowa. Together they raised three sons, Rob, Ricky Joe, and Randall; and a daughter, Cynthia in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was also blessed with twin boys, John and Jim, which she lost in infancy. 

      Vi had several occupations throughout her career. The majority of her working life, she worked for 26 years at Dodger Manufacturing in Eagle Grove as a quality inspector. When Dodger closed, she returned to school at the age of 65. She earned her GED and Associates Degree in Accounting. She then went to work at H&R Block in Clarion, Iowa where she retired in 2020. 

      Vi was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Her interests included sewing, cooking, and baking, and spending time with her family and friends. No one ever left the house with an empty stomach and an earful of conversation.

      Vi passed away unexpectedly on November 5, 2022 at UnityPoint Health in Fort Dodge, Iowa, at the age of 81. She is proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary Lee Pohlman; three sons, Ricky Joe, John and Jim; and a brother, Doede. 

      Vi is survived by sons, Rob and Randall; daughter, Cynthia; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie; brother, Bill; and many nieces, nephews, and friends she considered family.

      Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove. 

      Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
