William E. Johnston

William Eugene Johnston, the son of Francis “Buck” Dale and Patricia Ann (Davis) Johnston, was born on June 16, 1949, in Fort Dodge, Iowa.  He was raised and educated in Eagle Grove graduating from Eagle Grove High School with the “Class of 1967”.  He then attended ICCC – Eagle Grove Campus and graduated from DMACC with an auto parts degree.  He then worked at Howard’s Body Shop in Clarion and managed the gas station portion for his boss Howard Moon. He also worked construction in Britt, at a gas station in Eagle Grove, at Office Max in Fort Dodge and drove a van to transport Railroad employees.

      Bill was an avid coin collector and attended a coin club in Clarion.

      Bill passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021, at the age of 71 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Fredrick Johnston.

     He was a devoted uncle to his nephew, Phillip R. Johnston and wife Leslie; niece, Shelby McLaughlin and husband Corey and two great-nephews, Xander and Elliot.

      Services are pending.
