William “Bill” LeRoy Madison, the son of Leonard and Elsie (Olson) Madison, was born on May 26, 1933, in Wright County, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Goldfield High School in 1951. Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
On December 28, 1958, Bill was united in marriage to Jean Skiye at the United Methodist Church in Goldfield. They couple made their home in Goldfield and continued to live in the same house for 60 years. Bill worked for Wright County Road Maintenance, Goldfield Elevator and the United States Postal Service, retiring as Postmaster in Goldfield.
Bill was a member of the Goldfield Methodist Church.
Bill passed away on Friday, November 22, 2019, at Crestview Manor in Webster City, at the age of 86 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Hilman and Georgia Skiye; sister, Gloria Madison and grandson, Brian Gray.
Bill is survived by his wife, Jean; daughters, Diane Gray (Paul) of Andover, MN and Nancy Madison of Farmington, MN; granddaughter, Stephanie Gries (Jason) of Mounds View, MN great-granddaughters, Mackenzie Madison and Savannah Jean Gries; brothers, Larry Madison (Sheila) of Humboldt and Roger Madison of Dakota City; sister, Phyllis Torkelson (Larry) of Dakota City; sisters-in-law, Helen Carstens (Larry) of Blairsburg and Jane Byers (Clark) of Windsor Heights and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2019, at the Goldfield Methodist Church with Rev. Lynn C. Gardner officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
